The Science
The shaving cream acts as a cloud. As we add food coloring, the shaving cream becomes saturated with color until it can no longer hold the color and must release it into the water. This is similar to how clouds become saturated with water and must release what they cannot hold.
Adaptations
Start by adding only a few colors to see how they mix. Or start by quickly adding the same amount of each color and see which color reaches the water first. When you have seen the colorful storm in your cup, see what happens when you mix it all up! This is an easy experiment to repeat and see what kind of storms you can create.
