Testing for platinum by putting it in hydrogen peroxide. Platinum acts as a catalyst which reacts with the hydrogen peroxide releasing oxygen. If it bubbles than it is platinum.It is highly inert and resists wear.It is used in fuel cells to make electricty also in making hydrogen and oxygen for internal combustion enegine..This shows hydrogen reacting with peroxide releasing oxygen atoms..the air bubbles show the process .Platinum is in some wire's in old electronics which made the hardware expensive,This is the cheapest way to find out it is platinum,,without using metal detector..,This experiment to see if I have platinum to make PEM cells,.The video explains why the test.
