Today’s focus is the Professor of the Life School, Moolinda Wu.
Moolinda was a child of the House of Wu, a distinguished clan of gardeners responsible for tending the Garden of Eternal Brightness, the personal sanctuary of the Emperor of MooShu. As a child Moolinda proved skillful, mastering even the most complex gardening spells with an ease far beyond her years.
Moolinda’s sensei, Uncle Rookwon Wu, realized Moolinda’s potential ran deeper than the Art of the Garden. Uncle Rookwon sought an audience with the Jade Emperor for his esteemed counsel.
Though gardening magic was strong in the House of Wu, it had been long since they had produced any children capable of great feats of wizardry. The Emperor was impressed, and declared he would take a personal role in Moolinda's education.
Moolinda served happily as the Emperor’s apprentice, mastering the Life School while still tending his magnificent garden in the hours her busy training schedule allowed.
When tragedy struck Wizard City with the death of Sylvia Drake, Merle Ambrose sent a heartfelt request to his old friend the Emperor: Would he part with his greatest pupil in order that she might come fill the void left in Sylvia’s absence?
Moolinda was reluctant to leave her familiar life. Plagued with doubt, she traveled to Hamamitsu Garden to confer with her father, the legendary gardener Frookwan Wu. Frookwan said her sacrifice might heal the scar left by Sylvia’s death and bring new life to Wizard City. Was that not the purpose of a true gardener?
Moolinda saw his wisdom and journeyed to Ravenwood with a clear mind and an open heart. Teaching has become her greatest joy, and she brings that joy for Life to each and every lesson.
