Ari Aster is pushing the genre with his attention to character and story telling but not enough is said about how beautifully photographed his work is. Each frame is so thoughtfully constructed. Once we arrive in Sweden the luminous imagery and arresting set-pieces are unrelenting. Each moment with the characters is rich with tension. This pattern sustains until the very end.
