Ingredients:
1 cup split red lentils (masoor dal)
1/4 cup yellow lentils (moong dal)
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 green chilies, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
1/2 cup fresh cream
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
For Tadka (Tempering):
2 tablespoons ghee
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
2-3 dried red chilies
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
Instructions:
Preparation:

Rinse the lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for about 30 minutes.
In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils, chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt, and 4 cups of water. Cook until the lentils are soft and well-cooked.
Dal Tadka:

In a pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add the cooked lentil mixture to the pan. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Pour in the fresh cream and mix until well combined.
Tempering (Tadka):

In a separate small pan, heat ghee for tempering.
Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, dried red chilies, and asafoetida. Allow them to sizzle and release their flavors.
Final Touch:

Pour the tempering over the prepared dal and stir gently.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
