In order to film this beautiful Trabant 500, I met the owner in Zwickau in front of the factory premises of the former VEB Sachsenring Zwickau. The first scene starts at the exit from Plant 2. We look at the Trabant P60 together, drive it around the Zwickau area and find out that the quality was better back then, in the 1960s.
You can see and feel that in many details such as the mirror, dashboard, seats and much more.
GDR 1963, a Trabant 600 is just leaving the delivery gates of Sachsenring Automobilbau Zwickau...
...Now, 59 years later, we present this Trabant closer to you.
Trabant 600 was the sales name for the second generation Trabant. Internally it had the type designation P 60 and was built as a sedan, as you can see here, from 1962 to 1964 at the VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerk in Zwickau. The Trabant 600 was also available as a station wagon, camper van and delivery van, and these were built in the Meerane body shop until the end of 1965.
The well-known two-cylinder 2-stroke engine works in the Trabant 600, which was produced in the VEB Barkas-Werke Karl-Marx-Stadt.
A total of 106,628 Trabant 600 were built in
built after five years of production. Compared to the Trabant 601,
of which a total of 2,818,547 cars were built over a period of 26 years,
a very small number of pieces, making it a coveted piece today
