ALTERING KNITTING PATTERNS: how to get started

Would you like to make changes to a knitting pattern, but you're not sure how to begin? I rarely follow knitting pattern instructions, and always find myself substituting yarns, changing the gauge, altering the fit or changing the shape. Preparation is key, and you should have a clear idea about what you want to change about a knitting pattern before you can start making knitting alterations. This video introduces a new series about knitting alterations, and answers many questions that viewers have posed in response to my knitting vlogs and tutorial videos. I discuss the reason why altering knitting projects can be harder than sewing projects, and go through the key reasons why & where you might get started with altering your handknit garments: knitted jumpers, sweaters and cardigans.
