That moment before you consume a heroic dose of mushrooms is surreal. You know your mind is about to be blown in unknowable ways, you know you can't possibly be prepared for what's to come. Ultimately, it comes down to one of life's truly rare binary decisions -- Chomp down the deceptively humble dry nasties or don't.
This is a tale about the first time I chose to send them down the hatch. It was, without question, one of the most profound, life-changing, ego-obliterating, brain-melting occasions of my life.
