www.thetiechest.com - This video will demonstrate how to safely remove wrinkles from a silk tie using an iron. Silk is a very delicate fabric and needs to be handled quite gently. Furthermore, ties have rolled edges that can easily be flattened thin by excessive ironing. Set the iron on a silk setting, or a very low heat setting. Then, put a plain non-textured cloth on the tie itself, to avoid direct contact between the hot iron plate and the tie fabric. Start ironing very gently, without hardly putting any pressure at all. Then, remove the cloth and see how your fabric is responding. Repeat this process until the wrinkles are removed. Patience is key! Another technique demonstrated in this video, is to gently steam the tie before pressing it. This is done by holding the iron an inch or so above the tie and "air-ironing" it. Then, put the cloth on the tie and gently iron. This should safely remove the wrinkles without flattening the rolled edges or scorching the silk fibers.
