In this "At Home With George” short, taped on the road, mindfulness and performance expert George Mumford discusses hindrances, which are mental factors that hinder our ability to see clearly, be mindful, and be in the moment. He also talks about one method to abandon them or let them go.

George: “One way to think about right effort is being able to abandon or let go of unhelpful or unwholesome mind states, thoughts, and emotions. We call those hindrances. They are greed, ill will, sloth and torpor (sluggishness), worry and restlessness, and doubt."

As always, George frames the talk around creating the possibility of both saying yes to whatever comes up, including things that are unpleasant to embrace, and generating the hope.
