Odontogenic Keratocyst - Histopathology, Head and Neck Pathology
- Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor (not recommended since 2017)
- Cystic lesion with a thin squamous lining
- Diagnostic features include the presence of pallisading of the basal layer and a corrugated (or ruffled) layer of parakeratin on the surface
- Inflammation is usually sparse but may obscure the diagnostic histologic features
- Extensive sampling may be necessary for diagnosis
- Accurate diagnosis is important as recurrence is common
