Empowering female farmers in Indonesia | SDGP

In the forest hills of Indonesia, a partnership supports local farmers. In this project, "Sugar and Steam - Sustainable Intensification of Agro-Forestry Production Systems," farmers receive training to improve their crops in a sustainable way and get a fair price for their harvest. This partnership embraces the principles of sustainable agriculture, including agroforestry, regenerative agriculture and circularity. Farmers learn not only how to strengthen their crops, but also how to deal with the challenges of climate change. Soil fertility restores and biodiversity improves as farmers grow other crops in addition to coconut trees. They receive training in essential practices such as composting, mulching and effective water and soil management.
