Lupang Hinirang

This is a music video for the Philippine national anthem, Lupang Hinirang, produced by TVUP. The Lupang Hinirang was composed by Julian Felipe as the Marcha Filipina-Magdalo, as commissioned by President Emilio Aguinaldo. It would be renamed as the Marcha Nacional Filipina when the country declared its independence in 1898. The lyrics would be written by soldier and writer Jose Palma a year later. Originally written in Spanish, the song would be translated to English during the American colonial period. The first Filipino official version would be circulated in 1948. The current official version, as translated by Felipe Padilla de Leon, would be released in 1958, and revised in 1963. #universityofthephilippines #lupanghinirang #nationalanthem
