Nothing crazy this week, but a nice solid whip from someplace other than the Red River Gorge, where it seems like 99% of our whipper submissions come from 🙄
Marwan Maayta takes a whip on "Jordan Express" (8b/5.13d). It is at a crag called Iraq al-Damaj, in the governorate of Ajloun, in the north or Jordan.
Explains Maayta, "It was bolted by Slovenian climbers in an adidas-sponsored trip in 2014, including Klemen Bečan, Anja Bečan, Mina Markovič, and Luka Fonda."
The route follows a series of sharp crimps up the overhanging limestone wall.
"If I was able to get my left foot up," Maaya says. "I would have had been able to clip and rest, but my right arm was just too pumped because I spent a lot of time adjusting throughout the crux."
He still hasn't sent but he's getting closer. "Hopefully I will be moving a little faster next time!" he says.
