Hi, this 'How To' video shows how to run a phone line down a cat5 or cat6 network wiring using an empty port.
In this example it runs from the phone line into a network socket using a 1m BT to RJ45 lead then over to the patch panel under the stairs.
It then links through on the patch panel using a short patch lead to connect together the living room port and the kitchen port.
Then in the kitchen network socket it terminates with a PABX RJ45 to BT socket adaptor.
If your phone line was already by the patch panel under the stairs then the run would be shorter as it would go from the phone line straight into the patch panel and then onto the kitchen.
On a 10/100 BASE-TX network then you can use economisers to push phone and Ethernet down the one cat5 cable. I will show this in a future video.
