I was searching for Jazzmaster pickups and i found on eBay that 1958 Jazzmaster Vintage Correct Pickups by Q Pickups a "family manufacture specialized in hand crafted electric guitar and bass pickups" from Croatia (The Bambi Molesters) i heard good reviews around the web so i decide to give a try.
When in 65' Leo Fender sold the company to CBS they change a lot of things, the 65 Jazzmaster pickups have grey bobbin enamel coat different magnet dimensions more flat and different DC resistance (K ohms), 65s have 6,8 on neck and bridge and from 58 to 64 was 7,35 on neck and 8,12 on the bridge, both pickups sound great the 65 have the famous bell tone super clean tone and the 58 its more warm and as you can hear the 58 have more mids and less high's the 65 have high tremble low mids and more bass especially on the neck, that's why you can spot a 65 pickup on YT when the neck is set to low almost bellow the pickguard it's 65.
Practical when you using the 65 you must roll off the tone a little bit (or a lot of bit it) because have high ice peaking frequency and sometimes its annoying, i found out if you change the pots from 1MEG to 25OK sounds like a normal guitar if you are Strat guy and play all the time covers you find it very useful, but personally i dont recement it because you will kill that jangly Jazzmaster characteristic tone.
