Henry VIII is one of the most infamous and brutal Kings in History, and he is known for executing two of his own wives and around 70,000 inside of his Kingdom of England. He executed some of his victims inside the walls of the Tower of London, and it was there where one of the King's most brutal and savage executions took place. Margaret Pole was the Countess of Salisbury, who had royal blood as she was one of the remaining members of the Plantagenet family who ruled England. Her father also was executed in the Tower of London as he was drowned in malmsey wine. But during the reign of Henry VIII, the notorious King stamped down on Margaret Pole.

Margaret's son Reginald was a senior figure in the Catholic church and he became a Cardinal. But he was also the leading critic of Henry VIII and he also encouraged people to rebel inside of the Kingdom, and with this became Henry VIII's biggest enemy. But Margaret Pole also fell under suspicion, and with this was arrested and also imprisoned inside the Tower of London. She was around the age of 65 when she was imprisoned, and she was held as the King's prisoner for 2 years before she was then executed. But the elderly Margaret Pole's execution allegedly took more than 10 swings from the axe to take her life. It was performed by a 'blundering and wretched,' axeman who did not perform his job well. Today it is considered one of the most brutal executions of the Tudor period.
