Michael Healy-Rae has launched a blistering attack on Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) over what he claims is interference in the planning process in Kerry.

Speaking recently in the Dáil on a Planning and Rural Housing Motion, the Kilgarvan deputy attacked TII for interfering, meddling and ‘sticking its big horrible nose’ into planning permission.

TII claims it provides sustainable transport infrastructure and services, including provision of roads that work towards ‘a better quality of life’ and support economic growth and respecting the environment.

But the verbal attack on TII prompted the Leas-Cheann Comhairle to ask Deputy Healy-Rae to reflect on his use of language. A request he refused.

‘If a person in TII writes a horrible, poisonous letter against a young, respectable person who is seeking planning permission and states that that individual should not have the right to have his or her entrance on the road, I say to hell with the person in TII and their dirty, horrible letter,” Deputy Healy-Rae told the Dáil.
