The Alpine Pass Route follows the Swiss Via Alpina 1, a 360km trek east-west across Switzerland, between Sargans, on the border of Liechtenstein, and Montreux. It's a demanding 3-week trek, described in the Cicerone guidebook in 18 stages, crossing 16 passes including the 2778m Hohtürli.
Highlights along the route include the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau near Grindlewald, valley-pass landscapes every day, the Lauterbrunnen valley and its waterfalls, the Oeschinensee above Kandersteg.

The route makes the following pass crossings: Foopass to Elm, Richetlipass to Lintal, Braunwald to Urnerboden, Klausenpass to Altdorf, Surenenpass to Engleberg, Jockpass to Engstlenalp, Planplatten to Meiringen, Grosse Scheidegg to Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg to Lauterbrunnen/Mürren, Sefinenfurke to Griesalp, Höhturli to Kandersteg, Bunderchrinde to Adelboden, Hahnenmoospass to Lenk, Trüttlisbergpass to Gsaad or Gsteig, then either via Col des Mosses and Col de Chaud or via Chateau d'Oux to Montreux, via the Roches de Naye.
