Classic TV Theme: Falcon Crest (Bill Conti)

Falcon Crest ran for nine seasons and is considered by some to be primetime soap at its best. The saga of the California wine industry and the warring family factions is carried off with a stellar cast and often top-notch writing. Needless to say the sweeping theme is one of Bill Conti's best.
00:00 Season one: Conti's original arrangement, hampered a bit by fi that isn't as high as in later seasons.
01:07 Season six: The opening titles were redesigned, with actors now in a frame and wine swirling in a glass as a motif. The theme has exceptionally clear audio, with loads of presence.
02:25 Season eight. The biggest, most sumptuous arrangement, enhanced by stereo sound.
03:32 Season nine. Look what they've done to my song! The cheap sound of the synthesizer is all over this gloomy rendition of the theme, complete with some sour looks among the cast members.
04:43 End credits. The grandiose season eight closer ends this tour of Tuscany Valley on a high note.
