In this week's episode, we really push our luck as we attempt to sail to the most remote reef we've ever seen. After arriving at Whangarei Marina, we started to plan our biggest and most dangerous sail with the season 6 crew. The plan was to sail over 1200 nautical miles from New Zealand to Tonga, stopping at one of the most remote reefs in the Pacific along the way - Minerva Reef. When completing a multi-day/multi-week ocean crossing, timing your departure properly is extremely important, as the last thing you want is to be stuck out in the middle of the ocean in a dangerous or life-threatening storm. Unfortunately for us, our weather windows kept collapsing and we started to get antsy. Despite knowing the potential repercussions of ignoring weather advisories, we decided to push it and leave New Zealand between weather windows. And if there was ever a time that this crew crumbled and broke down, it was in this very episode. Don't miss it.
