According to food historians, Falooda is not Indian; it is a traditional Iranian dessert. Parsis used to eat this sweet during festivals and celebratory occasions. If we talk about the oldest desserts globally, then Falooda is one of them, probably eaten in 400 BC.20 Jan 2022


While the two desserts have a lot in common, falooda is a Central and South Asian variation which usually contains rose syrup, jelly, nuts and basil seeds and is served in a glass with ice cream. The Iranian version, faloodeh has an icier texture and isn't necessarily served with ice cream.14 Jul 2023


Also spelled as 'Faluda', it is popular in India, Pakistan and the middle-east. Falooda is an Indian Mughlai version of the Persian dessert “faloodeh”. There are many versions of faloodeh found all over Asian countries. Similar versions of this dessert are popular across Asian countries and is known by different names.23 Apr 2021
