I have been getting a lot of requests lately to show how to blend colored pencils. So I thought I would make a short video showing a few different techniques I usually use in my drawings. There are several techniques out there but I am only showing my preferred blending methods. I use these techniques for my drawings according to the objects that I am drawing.
Layering method-- for very smooth seamless blending -- Skin, cast shadows etc
Burnishing --- for shiny colorful objects like plastics and shiny fruits.
Blender pencils --- for light skin tones and to spread a light color evenly on paper.
Solvents –- I use this method for almost anything except skin. Suitable for garments brightly colored objects, birds etc.
White pencil --- If you want to dull the color and get a whitish finish. Suitable for flowers with light pastel colors.
Colors used for this demo Prismacolor pencils listed below.
Square – Sky blue light, light aqua and aquamarine (from light to dark)
Butterfly upper wings – Hot pink, Process red, Mulberry, Dahlia purple (from light to dark)
Butterfly lower wings – Lilac, parma violet, violet, dark purple (from light to dark)
