How to bypass oil injection. This video will show you how I bypass the oil injection pump for my 1986 arctic cat cougar 500. The process is similar for most oil injection two strokes. Basically you bypass the oil injection pump by routing two hoses to a "t fitting"  then run a single line back to your two stroke injection oil tank. If you run clear hose you will be able to watch your oil injection pump in action.
This is a good way on an old snowmobile or other two stroke injection machine to make sure your oil injection pump is functioning correctly.
Don't forget to premix your gas when you set this up.I use 50:1 ratio.
Also when you bypass two stroke injection pumps and run a premix in your fuel tank, you immediately lean your engine. This will make it run hotter. Yes it will be getting oil, but not the same amount you would get if you were running the oil injection pump.

Your carbs from the factory were jetted for straight up gasoline, not gasoline mixed with two stroke oil. The premix slows down the flow of fuel through the main jets, I would recommend going larger in main jet size if you want to run a premix fuel instead of using the oil injection pump.

Two stroke oil injection pumps vary the ratio of gas/oil between 20:1 to 100:1 depending on your engines RPM.

Oil injection pumps are reliable, I've taken this one apart and the internals are solid. The external check valves would be my first concern, the passages in the check valves are extremely small and junk could clog one of them and cause a no oil condition.
