IoM TV archive: The new Laxey Wheel: 20.8.2006

It had started out as a labour of love but finally become a reality in August 2006 as the many volunteers who had overseen the restoration of the Laxey Wheel’s little sister, the original Snaefell Mine waterwheel. Chairman of the Laxey Mines Research Group, project director Pete Geddes told Joanne Green more about the undertaking.

Context:
Over fifty foot in diameter and taking five litres of water a second to turn and three years of dedication the official opening and first turning of the wheel took place at two o’clock in Laxey Valley Gardens on the 20th August 2006.
