The white pigment I use is DESIGNER'S PERMANENT WHITE GOUACHE, which is an opaque version of watercolor. I use it instead of my regular watercolor whites which are too transparent for my style of painting.

Paper: Hot Press, 140lb, 100% cotton - watercolor paper

PART III

Most common questions I get and here are some answers:

♦︎14.WHY DO I USE IT SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES I DON'T?♥︎
(art masking fluid for watercolors)
It depends on what I am painting. If I paint an underwater sea turtle and the water is turquoise I don't want my turtle to get any of that blue in its body so I will protect it with the fluid. If I paint a sea boat and it's a sunset, where the boat would be in similar tones I won't worry too much about the background  paint going over the boat.
It depends on how much you want to protect the white areas. If you need them to stay all the way white, then you will need the art masking fluid for sure. Especially if those spots are very small or complex. But if those areas will be painted over later, then you may not need the fluid.

♦︎15.CAN I COPY YOUR PAINTINGS?♥︎

Yes of course that's what my tutorials are for so you can paint along with me. So again yes as long as you are not trying to make money off of the copies. ©

♦︎16.WHERE DOES MY INSPIRATION COME FROM?♥︎

Everything that's around me, memories from travels, childhood, things I see everyday.

A good practice is.. wherever you are..  absorb everything with your eyes, look at the sky, look at the ocean, lake, river, trees, your neighbors backyard, a dog, anything that surrounds you and examine its shapes/ colors/ structure.

When I look at things I always imagine how would I paint it. How would I create that fog below the mountain or clouds sitting on top of the mountain.

You absorb colors and shapes with your eyes and carry those memories with you when you are ready to start painting. I recommend to always plan ahead. I believe you will be the most efficient in your work when you think before picking up a brush and create your palette. Like if you are painting from a photograph, look at it and think of the colors you see, the colors you see underneath the colors what to use to create those shades of blues pinks greens... and perhaps what colors you need to mix and what would help you to create a texture.. a sponge? a tooth brush? a plastic wrap? a cotton ball?

Part I and II are in my previous videos :)
