Group cohesiveness refers to the
Group cohesiveness refers to the extent to which group members are attracted to each other and motivated to stay in the group. It is a measure of how well the group is working together, and it can have a significant impact on group productivity, effectiveness, and member satisfaction.
Cohesiveness is influenced by a variety of factors, including the size of the group, the goals and values of the group, the level of interdependence among members, and the level of communication and interaction among members. When group members share common goals and values, have a high level of interdependence, and communicate effectively with each other, they are more likely to feel a sense of cohesiveness.
High levels of cohesiveness can have several positive outcomes, including increased member satisfaction, greater productivity and efficiency, and improved decision-making. However, there are also potential negative consequences associated with high levels of cohesiveness, such as groupthink, which can occur when the group becomes too unified and fails to consider alternative perspectives or ideas.
