Now these are the real "Iron Men" of Mexican history. Prepare for CINCO DE MAYO: LA BATALLA.
Credit upstart Pantelion Films for its serious efforts to court the Latino box office in North America. This partnership between Mexican media powerhouse Televisa and Hollywood player Lionsgate has had mixed results with its first releases. But 2013 may change all that.
After the critical acclaim received by the rap-fueled drama "Filly Brown," Pantelion offers up a slice of Spielbergian historical epic with CINCO DE MAYO: LA BATALLA (or "The Battle" in Spanish.)
Starring Kuno Becker, Liz Gallardo and the great Angélica Aragón, director Rafa Lara makes a robust attempt to dispel any notion that the 5th of May is just a reason to drink up Cuervo or Corono by the jug. Rather, he paints a respectful portrait highlighting the humanity that was a turning point in Mexico's history. As General Ignacio Zaragoza, watch Becker put forth his "corazón valiente" as he addresses the troops in this clip from the film, now playing on the MediaJor Channel.
