The Psoas Muscle is said to be our fight-flight muscle. Why is that?

Because when we are startled, under that fight-flight state, our psoas muscle contracts, and when we don’t release it and remain in that stressed state, it can become tight, and even painful! 😣

🤺 If our psoas remains tight and taut, it’s can signal to our body/nervous system that we are under “attack,” AKA in that fight-flight sympathetic nervous system state.

🧘🏼 It is also known as our “Soul Muscle.” A flexible, yet strong psoas helps ground us and allows our energy to flow through us, along with releasing trapped or stored stress.

♥️ Our body will start to FEEL what we are holding onto. This can also be referred to as psychosomatic pain.

🤝 This is why I love adding somatic activities, vagal toning to help cue our body through body language that we are safe and can move out of that stuck fight-flight state.
