Tirana is the capital of Albania (Shqipëria). Tirana is also the largest city of Albania. The city has a population of 510,000 and approximately 1 million Albanese live in the metropolitan area. Tirana is relatively a new city as it was founded in 1614 by Sylejman Pasha Bargjini. Although it was previously inhabited by Illyrian, Greeks and Romans. There are the remains of an Early Christian Basilica in Tirana. Some highlights of Tirana are the Kaplan Pasha Tomb, the Skanderbeg Square, the Clock Tower, the Grand Mosque, the Petrelë Castle, the Grand Park the Toptani Centre and the Resurrection Orthodox Cathedral.
