Today Schony747 features something not covered very often by rail fans. The arrival, locomotive run around, train preperation, locomotive hookup and departure of one of The V/Line Passenger Albury Locomotive Hauled Trains at Southern Cross Station Melbourne. Locomotive hauled trains to and from Albury are on borrowed time. The standard gauge Vlocity is already replacing one of the three services that run on a daily basis and the other loco hauled services will suffer the same in the future.
The Albury service is a Standard Gauge Service which limits where the train can arrive and depart from at Southern Cross and that is explained here. The run around was filmed on a public holiday so I had a full view from platform 3 onto platform 2 to give you a complete view of the process. On a normal weekday, there would be trains on platform 3 blocking this unique view.
