37401 Mary Queen of Scots vs. Storm Barbara on the Cumbrian coast

23rd Dec 2016 - decided to take a detour around the Cumbrian coast line on the way up to Scotland for Christmas. Forecast was for "Storm Barbara" to hit at about the same time... in spite of a 50mph speed limit being imposed the train made it to Carlisle right on time, where the Pendolino services up the main line had all taken on fairly substantial delays. The very first section of this trip (Preston to Barrow) was actually behind 37403 "Isle of Mull". The bad weather became apparent north of Barrow with 37401 in charge.
