Hi guitarists, I'm Alessandro Bianchi, welcome to ShapeYourTone! 🔥
In today's video I'm talking about baritone guitars, i.e. those guitars that have longer necks than normal ones.
To do this I use a super beautiful and metal Ibanez RGIB21 Iron Label 🤘🏻
Why are these guitars made like this? There are reasons.
The main goal is to increase the tension of the strings so that you can reach lower tunings than the standard ones.
With these guitars you can go to Standard B, Drop A, Drop G# and Drop G tunings and beyond.
If you wanted to get these tunings so low on a normal guitar you would need to detune the guitar too much, and the strings themselves would be too soft, without tension and therefore unplayable.
And that's why you need a baritone guitar.
There are also cons, I'll explain them to you in the video. For example some (like me) might prefer 7 string guitars which are a bit in between a standard guitar and a baritone guitar.
