VN24 - Dec 01, 2021 - Kamen / Germany - Sometimes luck is with the animals and the people. After this serious rear-end collision on the A1 freeway at the Kamen intersection, the driver and horse got out of this totally destroyed wreck of a horse transporter almost unharmed. The accident occurred in the morning when, according to the driver, his transporter was hit by a gust of wind in the middle of the bridge over the A2 freeway, pushing it to the right, onto the left rear corner of a truck standing at the end of a traffic jam in the right lane. The impact ripped open the entire right wall of the van and the body collapsed. The vehicle was then deflected to the left and landed on the left of three lanes against the middle concrete crash barrier. The 59-year-old driver was able to get out of the wreckage on his own with only a minor cut to his hand and immediately attended to the Belgian Warmblood mare in the loading area. This could transfer, after the fire-brigade debris removed and a veterinary surgeon examined it, absolutely uninjured into a spare transporter.
