In this new video series, we want to show you and introduce you to several original vehicles in detail, one after the other, because there is nothing better than references for model builders. Today we show you interior and exterior views of the Panzer IV/70(A) (serial number 120539), the Jagdpanzer IV with the Alkett superstructure for the 7.5cm L/70 KwK. This was based on the hull of the Panzer IV Ausf.J, on top of which a new fixed structure was built to accommodate the L/70. Due to the front-heaviness, the 4 front rollers were changed from rubber to steel rollers. With a frontal armor of 80mm and a total weight of around 28 tons, the Panzer IV chassis was overloaded as it was originally developed for a tank weighing 17-18 tons. From August 1944 to March 1945, 277 vehicles and one prototype were manufactured in the Nibelungen factory. We are pleased that the tank museum in Saumur made this shoot possible for us. If you would like to see this vehicle (and of course many others) in the original (because no video or photo can replace a personal impression), you should plan a visit to Saumur: Museum website: www.museedesblindes.fr/ Address: 1043 route de Fontevraud, 49400 Saumur, France
