Leapmotor debuted the new C16
Leapmotor debuted the new C16 SUV in China , a model designed to offer a lot of space inside the passenger compartment (up to 6 seats with a 2+2+2 layout) and meet the needs of families. It will be offered both in a 100% electric version and with a range extender.
DESIGN
Larger than the Leapmotor C1O, it features similar lines and design. It features soft curves, flush door handles, and LED headlights; all accompanied by a panoramic glass roof and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Leapmotor C16 is 4,915 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, 1,770 mm high , with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm.
INTERIOR
Internally the car offers a minimalist design with a digital instrument panel, a 'floating' infotainment system and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Despite the minimalist design, inside the passenger compartment we find leather upholstery, a dual-zone climate control system and a 15W wireless smartphone charger.
Higher-end versions offer more luxury , including a three-zone climate control system and heated and ventilated seats in the first two rows. Customers can also opt for a 21-speaker premium audio system, a rear entertainment system with a 15.6-inch screen and an advanced driver assistance system that uses a LiDAR sensor.
ENGINES, PERFORMANCE AND AUTONOMY
As mentioned, it will be available with an electric motor or in a version with a range extender.
Starting with this second version, we find a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 70 kW / 95 hp that powers a 28.4 kWh battery and a rear electric motor that delivers 180 kW / 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque . This system allows the SUV to reach 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and travel up to 200 km in fully electric mode according to the CLTC cycle.
As for the 100% electric model, we find a powertrain consisting of an electric unit with 215 kW / 292 hp and 360 Nm of torque, powered by an LFP battery with a capacity of 67.7 kWh. From 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and a range of 520 km according to the CLTC cycle.
PRICES
Prices are different, obviously, depending on the type of engine chosen. For the variant with range extender the price starts at 155,800 yuan (€20,000) , while for the full-electric version you need at least 161,800 yuan (€20,770).
