Do you need some help in teaching kids division? Choosing the thing that you and your kids love to play with at home will be the most effective. In our case, Lego is always the most preferred tool used, and you most probably have seen lots of different videos on our channel that depends on it.

Using the right vocabulary in math is the most important thing because that's how the meaning is delivered to the child and how they eventually get the chance to understand what they are supposed to do with the mathematical operation they are facing.

When it comes to division and depending on Lego, we have to teach the kids that sharing equally is the same as dividing and this could be taught through sharing the Lego blocks equally between two people or two sides. In our case, we have divided the Lego board to two halves and separated the blocks between them as if there are two persons in the game.

Lego is one of the most useful methods used because it is not just about separating the blocks haphazardly, but it is also about building towers out of them, which is done for a reason. When the kid comes to the part of building towers out of the Lego blocks while dividing them equally between the two sides, he/she will eventually get the chance to compare the two towers together in order to know whether they have done it correctly or else not - of course this could be also done through counting as well (Counting Games for Kids - Number Game...).

Always teach the child according to his/her own personal interests, if they are more interested in the little monsters then get them to share these monsters instead of the Lego, the most important thing is to encourage the child to share these items with a brother, a friend or even with you, but they have to share the items and in an equal way.

Using this way to teach the kids division and letting them understand that it is the same as sharing, parents will be also getting closer to introducing remainders very early to the child which will be also easier to deliver through using the Lego blocks because that's how they will manage to see that the two towers are not equal and thus a block will be removed from one and leave it aside for the moment.

Division might be a little bit more difficult when compared to the other mathematical operations that are found out there, such as addition, subtraction and multiplication, but kids will get the chance to realize that these are all easy ones when they are receiving the vocabulary that will make it all appear easier for them, such as the case of using "sharing" when teaching the kids all about division (Mental Math Games for Kids - Bingo Game).

Choosing the thing that the kid is most interested in, playing with the kids, making some challenges for them; these are all the different tips which we would give to parents homeschooling their kids and trying to teach them different mathematical operations and give them the needed push forward.

Teaching kids subtraction (Inverse Operations - Subtraction for ...), addition (Fun Math Game | Maths Games for Kids ...), multiplication (Multiplication for Kids - Grid Method...) and division will be always much easier when done through playing some games with the child, because that's how they will start to think and try to solve the problem.

The old methods of teaching the child math are also helpful but in order to make learning at home a lot more exciting to the child, you have to attract them to it all and this usually happens through games. Also when you teach the child something, you should let them practice it every so often and this will be done through letting them do a specific calculation that you might suddenly come up with during the day to see whether they could replay what they have already learned before or else will be forgetting it all.

Vocabulary is important, but leave your child to choose the term that he/she is more satisfied with, and always try to choose those everyday words that would describe the mathematical operations they are dealing with because that's how they will manage to solve it all and know what they are supposed to do.
