Latest Update: After the Baleno’s mid-spec variants, the top-spec Alpha trim is also likely to get a CNG variant. Also, the premium hatchback is being offered with benefits of up to Rs 10,000 this November.
Price: Maruti has priced the Baleno between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.71 lakh (ex-showroom).
Variants: It can be had in four trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
Boot Space: The premium hatchback has a boot capacity of 318 litres in petrol variants which is reduced in CNG variants due to a 55 litre CNG tank.
Engine and Transmission: Propulsion duties are carried out by a 1.2-litre Dual Jet petrol engine (making 90PS and 113Nm) mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT based on customer preference.
The same engine in the CNG variants produces a lower output of 77.49PS and 98.5Nm. The CNG variants are offered with a five-speed manual transmission. The engine also gets idle-start/stop technology, replacing the previously offered mild-hybrid tech.
Here are the claimed fuel efficiency figures:
1.2-litre MT: 22.35kmpl
1.2-litre AMT: 22.94kmpl
1.2-litre MT CNG: 30.61km/kg
Features: Maruti has equipped the Baleno with a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an Arkamys sound system, a reversing camera, heads-up display, 360-degree camera and cruise control. Additionally, auto climate control, push-button start/stop and keyless entry are available.
Safety: Passenger safety is ensured by up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, ISOFIX anchorages, rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
Rivals: Maruti’s facelifted hatchback is a rival to the Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz, Citroen C3 and the facelifted Toyota Glanza.
