[From "Kovacs Corner" on YouTube.com] - Released in 1957 by Columbia Pictures, "Operation Mad Ball" was the first feature movie co-starring Ernie with his best friend Jack Lemmon. Also co-starring is Bing Crosby's second wife, Kathryn Grant, along with the late Arthur O'Connell, and the equally wild Mickey Rooney.
[Updated January 25, 2011] - In 1957, Ernie Kovacs received the Sylvania Award for his work on the NBC color special "The Silent Show". As a result of the publicity for this TV special, Kovacs received a movie offer from Columbia Studios (which resulted in his role in the film Operation Mad Ball), and appeared on the cover of the April 15, 1957 issue of LIFE magazine.
