DC Cherry Blossom Peak Bloom 2024 / ワシントンDCの満開の桜を楽しむ

Welcome to Treasure Island! On today's adventure, we will return to the Tidal Basin to see the peak cherry blossoms.
You must have heard from the news, but about 160 cherry blossom trees will be cut down after this cherry blossom festival.
The famous tree, Stumpy will be one of them*.
They have a 3-year project to raise the seawalls around the basin because those trees have been sinking due to environmental change.
The scenery around the Tidal Basin will differ from next year, so please enjoy watching the last cherry blossom with us.

*After removing the tree, the clippings will be sent to the National Arboretum to propagate new trees.

今回は再び、ワシントンDCの桜の名所であるタイダルベイスンを訪れます。
もしかしたらニュースでご存じかもしれませんが、ここタイダルベイスンの桜のうち約160本は伐採される予定です。
というのも温暖化や海面上昇による浸水を防ぐための工事が3年計画で予定されているからです。
その伐採予定の木の中には、ど根性桜として知られる「スタンピー」*も含まれます。
来年からはこのタイダルベイスンの桜の景色もだいぶ変わるかと思いますので、この動画を楽しんでいただけたら嬉しいです。

*伐採後、スタンピーの枝はNational Arboretumの公園内に移植をされるそうです
