Today I got a beautiful
Today I got a beautiful song for you all to start the New Year! You can see how amazing it is when I play this song on my guitar. This is a traditional Indian Carnatic Song (from southern India) called "Vijayambike". It is about 80-100 years old I would say and written by Shri H.N. Muttiah Bhaagavatar. This song is about the goddess who is music herself! The sound, notes and everything that originates from music is naturally tuned for humans so we get to enjoy it. This is a blessing for us since beautiful music makes our mind joyful just by hearing the melody of the notes! I think this is a really beautiful and meaningful song because I can't imagine how my life will be if we don't have music. Music is like a therapy and it can calm our mind and make us enjoy our life even more I feel. For this, the song praises the goddess for blessing us and protecting us with music.
So, I want to start the New Year with this beautiful song! Have a look at how I play it! I am sure it will blow your mind!! 🤯 I love the challenge when playing Carnatic songs because it pushes me to aim for perfection since even 1 small wrong note can break the flow while hearing it. Also it is definitely not easy to play as you can see!!!
Special thanks to my amazing teacher Guitar Prasanna who is a legend himself and taught me this song! He plays even more crazier things and he is incredible! He is the first to play these complex Carnatic songs on a guitar and I am lucky to learn this directly from him.
Also, this is my first Carnatic song using the guitar that Adam Jones from Tool had sent to me! I am probably the only person in the world to play Carnatic music using an Adam Jones guitar!! hehe... 😂
