MBBS for NRI Students in India: Medical courses in India are the choice of a vast number of students. Indian medical education is governed by the MCI (Medical Council of India). For popularmedical courses at the UG level, admission is done based on the NEET examination. Based on the NEET scores, students are allocated seats in different colleges across the country.

Apart from the 15 percent All India Quota (AIQ) and 85 percent State Quota, deemed universities in India offer admission to NRI students under the 15 percent NRI quota reserved by theMedical Council of India. Both, Persons of Indian Origin (POI) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are included in the NRI Quota. However, it is necessary for them to clear NEET 2023 to get admission to any medical college.

Who Are NRI Candidates?
A candidate falls into the NRI category if he/ she meets the following criteria:

The candidate must be of Indian origin and settled in a foreign country.
Indian citizens’ children staying abroad for business or employment are also considered NRI.
Candidates who are born abroad but the parents are of Indian origin fall under the NRI category.
Candidates who are children of State/ Central Government employees who are staying abroad on deputation period are considered as NRI.
Candidates should also be residing abroad and gain the status of an NRI (by living outside for 5 years).
Candidates must also pass their 10th and 10+2 exam from the country they are residing in.

MBBS Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria for NRI Students
Here are the eligibility requirements that NRI students need to meet to apply for MBBS colleges in India.

Applicants must be holding a valid passport
The seats offered under NRI Quota will only be allocated to bonafide NRI’s
Candidates must have qualified NEET 2023
Candidates applying under NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relation to the financial supporter, be it the mother, sister, father, brother, aunt or uncle.
Candidates also need to pass their class 12 exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or an equivalent exam with at least 60% marks or above.
There is a minimum age limit of NRI quota candidates which is 17 years along with a maximum age limit of 25 years.

Student visa
NOC from the Ministry of External Affairs, GOI (Government of India), New Delhi
Non-Objection Certificate issued by the Ambassador/ competent authority of the candidate’s country to allow their stay and study in India
Class X Marksheet
Class X Passing Certificate
Marksheet of the Qualifying Examination
Vaccination Certificate
Transfer Certificate
Health Certificate
Migration Certificate
Health Insurance Certificate
Community Certificate
Passport size colour photographs of candidates (six copies)
Joint declaration by parent and the applicant as per the format
Recent stamp size colour photographs (four copies)
