UPDATE: Turned out to be
UPDATE: Turned out to be malfunctioning air mass meter. Bought a new Bosch part, works like a charm! (been driving for some 20 000 km since the repair without problems)
S70 2.4t '00, manual gearbox
244 000 km
New spark plugs (Volvo original)
Clean air filter
New oils
I bought a rebuilt ETM from FRF Volvo UK and got it programmed at a local Volvo dealer (Avain Vaunu Oy, Kuopio, Finland). As you can see, it doesn't work as it should.
If I rev higher and release the pedal, idle RPM drops to the ~860. If I give just a little nudge, idle drops way below the 860. ScanGauge2 is too slow to show that.
Revs only up to 4000 (parked, gear in neutral - UPDATE: this seems to be a feature, not a problem, correct me if I'm wrong).
During a highway cruise (100 km/h) I first noticed that when lifting the accelerator so that the pull just goes off there's a noticeable nudge, like somebody yanked from the rear bumber. Later this happened also on lower speeds.
Seems to be a lot of misfiring. Engine rocks a bit at idle.
THERE WERE NO SUCH PROBLEMS WITH THE OLD ETM RIGHT BEFORE THE CHANGE!
I installed ETM myself. I used a new gasket between ETM and intake manifold.
I've taken the old one out a couple of times before to clean it and I can say I know what I'm doing. There's practically no room for installation error. I triple checked everything. Moreover I've been fixing my own cars successfully since 2001, so I'm not a completely useless with cars.
