"Out of the Skies" with Author Gabriele Petricek

A cozy afternoon book event with Austrian author Gabriele Petricek at Book & Puppet Co. Gabriele will read excerpts from her book "Von den Himmeln" ("Out of the Skies"), followed by the English translation reading by Book & Puppet owner Andy Laties. The reading will be followed by a presentation of the short film based off the first pages of "Von den Himmeln". There will also be a Q&A and a German/English reading of Gabriele's short story, "Streifzuge durch Welt oder: Der Rehe Spiegel funkeln silberdunkel" ("Roetails Glisten Silverdark").

Gabriele Petricek lives in Vienna, and has been a writer-in residence in the United States, Great Britain, and Italy. She is a member of PODIUM, co-founder of the Austrian-American Podium Dialog and founder of LITERATUR AM STEG, Vienna. She has received numerous grants and prizes for her books—"Von den Himmeln" (2009), "Joyce’s Choice" (2011), "Die Unerreichbarkeit von Innsbruck" (2018) and "Am Ufer meines Setzkastens" (2021) and several texts translated into English.
