The bench press is a great way to work out the chest muscles. The main advantage of this exercise is its safety and the increased emphasis on the working muscles. The bulk of the load is assigned to the minor and major pectoralis muscles. The deltoid muscles and the triceps act as auxiliary muscles in the bench press. The unilateral (one-handed) variation of this exercise, and a particular body position, allows you to achieve a better contraction of the pectoralis muscles.
