Overview of Matlab, Simulink and UAV Toolbox and demo for PX4 drones. Drone Software Meetup March '24 The presentation discusses the integration of UAV Toolbox with PX4 architecture to deploy controllers and estimators to an autopilot. The session is interactive, starting with a brief poll to gauge familiarity with MATLAB and Simulink. UAV Toolbox began as a support package in 2020, evolving into a standalone product for building and simulating autonomous algorithms. The toolbox integrates with various autopilots, including Cube Orange, and supports multiple sensors like LiDAR, cameras, and radars, offering tools for algorithm design, platform modeling, and simulation. Key components of the toolbox include: Platform Modeling: Different fidelity levels to represent dynamics, from simple point mass models to detailed CAD assemblies. Algorithm Design and Simulation: Supports deploying algorithms to various hardware, including NVIDIA platforms, and simulating scenarios in photorealistic environments using Unreal Engine. Mission Planning and Decision Making: Provides tools for generating control commands for waypoints, orbits, and planning using 3D occupancy maps. The session covers examples of integrating the toolbox with PX4, demonstrating how missions are planned and executed using simulated sensors and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. Various controllers, estimators, and mission management tools are discussed, showcasing the toolbox's capabilities in handling complex UAV operations.
