Black Kutsinta With Black Strap Molasses I No Lye Water
This Black kutsinta gets its black color from Molasses which has many health benefits so you’re not only eating your favorite Filipino kakanin but your also eating healthy. Black strap molasses is a byproduct of sugar cane’s refining process. Molasses can be used as a sweetener an as flavoring for many baked products. Molasses can reverse grey hair, combatting stress, balancing blood sugar levels, promotes healthy skin and hair, preventing cancer, menstruation-related problems, enlarge prostate, obesity.  Provides relief from headaches and constipation.

Black Kutsinta With Black Strap Molasses Recipe

Ingredients
1 cup cassava powder
1 cup all-purpose flour
¾ cup brown sugar
2 tbsp molasses
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups water
 Melted butter or cooking oil for greasing mold

Toppings:
Caramel Dipping Sauce
Toasted dessicated coconut

Procedure
1. Grease mold with melted butter or cooking oil.  Set aside.
2. In a bowl combine cassava powder, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, water and molasses.  Mix until well combined.
3. Put greased mold into the container.  Pour mixture into the greased mold about ¾ full.
4. Put steamer over boiling water.  Cover with lid wrap in cheese cloth to avoid water dripping to the kutsinta.
5. Steam for 10 minutes over high heat or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.  Remove from steamer and let it cool before unmolding.
6. Topped with toasted dessicated coconut and serve with caramel dipping sauce.

Yields: 24 pcs of black kutsinta
