What are Universal Mobile Telecommunications systems (UMTS)

In this session, we are going to analyse different network architecture, technology and their behaviour with respect to their protocol suites. The protocol testing is the key element which tests the packet structure of the packets sent in a network using some tools. Usually we will have a device/product under test which in connection with routers and switches to check various parameters with respect to the protocol configuration.

This topic is not going to provide how protocol testing is carried out in different networks but here we will be able to understand how protocol testing is different in various networks like GSM, UMTS and LTE. In short, we will have a better understanding of protocol stacks in GSM, UMTS and LTE networks with respect to the protocol mapping.

Protocol testing is an unique technique implemented to study the network through their packet data. Here, we will be able to cover in detail about the architecture of GSM, UMTS and LTE with their respective protocol stack mapped with OSI Model as their base derivative.

This topic will also slightly touch the different standards adopted in the telecommunication industry.
