Antiques, Vintage, Classic Cars in Country Picking Ramble!

We're on the blue line highways of Illinois today, wandering and wondering what we might find! Little towns with big surprises dot the map for us antique and vintage collectors, and we're picking through junk shops and antique malls while we see the sights of small-town America. West Frankfort is our first stop, where we're Pickin' and Grinnin' at a mall of the same name. A killer deal on vintage Kentucky Derby glasses is our big find here, along with Pepsi sign boards, Chalet glass, and a surprising number of MCM decorator items and house goods for a little place out on the backroads. A detour in Ziegler, Illinois brings us to a car show, where American iron and classic cars from the 1940s-1980s populate the town square! We take a few minutes to reminisce about family sedans and hot speedsters of the past, then head on to our main destination, the Pickneyville Antique Mall. This country shop has everything from a Victorian carriage blanket and a 1930s torchiere lamp to deals on vintage costume jewelry, a disco-era beer sign and Fire-King mugs, and we have fun ferreting out the best bargains. The kind folks there refer us to our last stop, the Stearns Goody Barn in Oakdale, Illinois. This place holds a crazy 30-year accumulation, with both Victorian and general used furniture piled high, grandma's 1970s-80s floral sofas stacked sideways, and surprises like an elegant Fostoria June beverage set and a 1960s Lance store jar tucked in between! We gawk at this wild pile of stuff and comb it for things our collectors will love, liberating a few from this major death pile and then heading off towards St. Louis and points west. ———————————————————— ☀️ Do you want more info about an item you own?
