'Divine' Monkey's Image From Ram Mandir Movement Viral; Iconic Tale Resurfaces

As the nation celebrates the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, an iconic image of a monkey from Ram Mandir movement days has come to the fore. The image dates back to October 1990, when Karsevaks had gathered in Ayodhya on VHP, RSS & BJP’s call, who wanted a Ram temple at the site of Babri masjid. Amid clashes between security personnel and Karsevaks, a monkey reportedly sat on the central dome of the mosque & prevented one of the flags from being removed from the mosque domes.
